On 21/22 September 2025 we have a South Node Partial Solar Eclipse at 29 degrees of Virgo. This should be visible in New Zealand at around 8am on Monday 22 September 2025.
Even though this is only a Partial Solar Eclipse it is particularly powerful due to it being a Super New Moon at the same time and the fact that it is falling next to the South Node also sitting in Virgo. And just 24 hours after the Eclipse we have the Equinox and then the Sun moves into Libra. Mars also enters Scorpio at the same time – so there is A LOT going on that this Eclipse will activate and stimulate to bring major changes and shifts in humanity and on the earth plane.
When an Eclipse aligns with the South Node it brings existing situations that need to be changed to a head. South Nodes represent endings and the closing of old doors in areas we have already mastered or that don’t serve us to spend more time in, right now. And Solar Eclipses represent new beginnings – a new way forward which can be a new perspective and change to a challenging existing situation, or you can do complete 180 and find yourself moving down a completely different path to the one you were on.
From every ending comes a new beginning
So, lets break this Eclipse down. It is occurring in the sign of Virgo which is the sign of the zodiac that aligns with structure, organisation, service, health, hard work and perfectionism. Virgo energy encourages us all to get our ducks in a row, to do what we can to serve and manage others and to be the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be. It demands perfection and so when the Solar Eclipse shines on this, it can make us very aware of what is NOT working in our lives. Another thing Virgo energy loves is routine, schedules and habitual practises. These types of things help Virgo energy to feel safe, useful and on track at all times. So, for many Virgo people having daily practises is what keeps them feeling like they are succeeding and on the right path to achieving their goals.
Practise makes perfect but can also keep you stuck
But what we can find is that those habits and practises that we cling too may have outlasted their use in our lives. For example, perhaps you like to start every day with a strong cup of coffee or two and reading the News. It’s your “thing” the way you like to start your day. You believe it sets you up well; you are woken up and alert due to the coffee and you are aware of what is happening in the world around you, so you are informed. But perhaps you are also not sleeping well as the coffee is over stimulating your system. And perhaps when you read the News every morning it actually puts you in a bad or negative mood and in effect ruins your day. Yet, this is your ritual, this is what you do every day and often just simply because “this is what you do”.
At the time of the Eclipse, it may become glaringly obvious to you that having a good night’s sleep is 100 times more important than drinking coffee, and, that reading the News is not setting you up for a good day. So, you can either get rid of both of these practises from your life, or, you can alter them in a way that works better for you. You could limit yourself to 1 cup of coffee in the morning and choose to read something informative or inspirational with that coffee, rather than the doom and gloom of the News.
Over the next few months as the Eclipse energy does its thing, you will feel the need to reassess what you are doing, especially those old tried and true things, and either upgrade these or get rid of them once and for all.
This Eclipse is happening at 29 degrees of Virgo which is extremely powerful and significant as it means the energy of Virgo is particularly strong and effectual. It will be pushing you to create more freedom in your life where you can be you and all that entails. But, Virgo energy fears failure more than anything else so the power of the Eclipse can catapult you forward to deal with things or step into things that you did not feel the courage or confidence to do before. You don’t have to end something that is challenging you, instead you can adjust it or reimagine it so you can grow with it rather than just feeling stuck in it. But within each of us there will be something that needs to shift, that needs a bit of help to shine in our lives, and when we allow this, we evolve.
On a global scale this Eclipse will further the revelations and shifts of power. Whether you are aware of it or not the whole world is currently erupting, revolution is all around us and every one of us has a role to play in this. Eclipse can bring about major weather events and seismic events as well, as the earth herself reacts to this powerful energy of change.
Less than 24 hours after the Eclipse we have the annual Equinox further amplifying endings and beginnings that are necessary in our personal lives and in the world around us. NOW is the time to start setting your intentions for not just the next month, but for the next 6 months and to follow these intentions up with solid action on your part. We are primed to change old habits and being asked to not be afraid to be different or to choose a different way moving forward.
What can you practically do to change your life or take a new direction?
First of all, you allow yourself to close the doors to the parts of your life that no longer serve you. Now, as I said before this does not need to mean that you throw away everything that is not working in your life – some things are just asking for an upgrade or for you to go about them in a different way.
And secondly, don’t be afraid to look at yourself and your life differently – allow yourself to imagine a different way of being and see how that feels to you. “Allowing” is something that we can really struggle with especially when we are down on ourselves – we don’t allow ourselves happiness, we don’t allow ourselves freedom to be and we don’t allow ourselves to be different. On the other side of allowing is liberation and discovering what you really need and want.
Virgo energy also rules Health. A Solar Eclipse in Virgo can aggravate any health issues that you are not attending too, and it can bring to the surface what still needs to be healed physically and emotionally. So, allow the tears to flow, the anger to explode or the laughter to come out of you – letting go of old stifled emotions will encourage your body to heal and raise its vibration, and stop such things becoming diseases in the future.
As the Sun moves into Libra just 2 days after the Solar Eclipse we are stepping into the final 6 signs of the zodiac. Aries to Virgo are all about “me” energy. Under the influence of the first 6 Seasons of the zodiac the focus is; what do I need and what makes me happy? You are looking to your own abilities, needs and awareness and how it all works for you. But once we hit Libra Season the next 6 signs of the zodiac, Libra to Pisces, are all about aligning with others, partnering up and being a part of things. We get to learn over the next 6 months who we are when we are not alone or solely focussing on ourselves. The first 6 months of the astrological year have taught you about what is important to you as an individual and now you get to see how others can help you with this, and where you can fit in with other people’s worlds and how TOGETHER we can make things happen on a bigger scale in some way. And never has it been more important for humanity to embrace what it can do together, rather than continuing to allow ourselves to be divided and pitted against one another as we currently are.
This Eclipse will be opposing both Saturn in Retrograde in the final degrees of Pisces and Neptune also in Retrograde but in the first degrees of Aries. These oppositions are asking you to remember your dreams, your fantasies your aspirations and highest ideals and to understand and know what you need to do and be to align with these and make them real. The Virgo energy reminds you of the importance of structure, hard work and focus to make anything happen sustainably, as does the energy of Saturn. And Neptune keeps you focussed on what is for the highest good of all concerned.
This powerful Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo is a strong reminder and push to us all to remember what you are here for and what you are capable of, if you are not afraid to step out of the life you are currently living. Every success starts with a dream and now is the time to focus on that dream to make it your reality and your new beginning.
