The North Node changes signs of the zodiac every approximately 18 months and it is the only placement in the cosmos that moves in a clock-wise direction. All the other planets and placements move anti-clockwise. The North Node represents our destiny; where we are heading too and all the potential and opportunity that is waiting there for us to explore and act upon.
The North Node is the head of the Dragon, our next point of discovery, development and evolvement and it when it changes signs it always brings opportunities for change and experience in a new area of our lives.
Directly opposite the North Node is the South Node – the tail of the Dragon – this represents where we have come from, what we have already mastered and what we can take knowledge and experience from and use to move forward.
South Node = most recent relevant past life to this lifetime
North Node = your destiny in this lifetime
From an esoteric astrology perspective the Nodes represent our past lives as well. The South Node represents your most recent relevant past life to this life, and the North Node is your destiny in this lifetime.
We are all born with our North and South Nodes placed somewhere in our Natal Charts indicating the most important past life lessons we are here to master in this lifetime. And every 18 months when the Nodes move, we are introduced to other past life lessons to help us to use our old knowledge to advance ourselves in some way.
The biggest challenge ALWAYS with past life energy is how easy it is to get stuck in it. You see your soul remembers every lifetime you have ever had and every detail of it, but it has no idea of chronological order. Therefore, as soon as you come across a person, place, experience, or trigger from another lifetime, your soul wants to take you back there. Your soul is just trying to help, it knows it has experience and knowledge in that area and so it assumes that it can use that again, but of course it is not only not relevant for this lifetime but can also pull you backwards.
The North Node has been in Pisces for the last 18 months and once it moves out of this sign of the zodiac, we will have NO major outer planets or placements sitting in water signs, thus fully concluding and moving us out of the energy of illusion and inactivity. With the North Node in Pisces the South Node was of course directly opposite in the sign of Virgo. The interpretation of this is that we have already learned how to organise, heal and manage our lives from a logical and grounded perspective and it was time for us to step into healing and managing our lives from a spiritual perspective. The big challenge we have had with this polarity is understanding our need to serve.
From “serving” to “sharing”
Both Pisces and Virgo have a great need to serve; Virgo loves to serve to be in control and to get all its ducks in a row, and Pisces likes to serve to keep the peace. However, for so long as we feel that we are here to serve others we are the servant. What we needed to learn from this transit was to “share” rather than serve, as when we share, we are equal.
This next transit of the North Node through Aquarius and the South Node through Leo brings a whole new opportunity for learning and growth. The last time the North Node transited through Aquarius was between December 2007 and August 2009 and so whatever you were presented with then, or experienced then can come into your life again in some way to see what you will do with this opportunity this time round. Wherever the Aquarius/Leo polarity sits in your Natal Chart will be where you will be experiencing this transit.
The North Node in Aquarius is asking us all to step into our innovation, individuality, quirkiness and ability to think and operate outside the box, and to feel comfortable and okay with this. It is our invitation to step up and find new solutions to old problems so as humanity and our planet can evolve and move forward towards a New Earth.
The North Node will join Pluto in Aquarius and further enhance and promote the Age of Aquarius – an age of revolution, rebellion, new ways forward and heaven of earth.
Face and embrace the fear of being different
With the tail of the Dragon, South Node, moving into Leo we are being asked to use our past experiences as leaders, creators, optimists, confidence-boosters and joy-bringers into this time so as we are not afraid to be different and we are not afraid to walk our own paths and do our own thing. Aquarius energy dances to its own drumbeat, it celebrates our differences but also completely understands and promotes the concept of community and coming together for mutual benefit, but it can carry a lot of fear of being different.
The challenge with this transit will be for us not to slip back into wanting to be admired and appreciated for who we are and therefore not wanting to go against the grain, or step out of the status quo for fear of losing that glory. Aquarian energy is understanding and welcoming of doing everything for the highest good of all concerned, but Leo energy wants and needs the attention and celebration.
