From 27 November until 15 December 2024 Mercury will move into Retrograde motion in Sagittarius.
Retrograde periods are all about giving us the opportunity to stop “doing” and start “thinking/feeling” in our lives. They are a chance to re-look at what we are doing and the direction we are moving in and ask ourselves “is this the right thing for me?”, “do I need to do it differently?”, “do I have the resources and information I need to do this successfully?” and/or “have I got all my ducks in a row to bring this to fruition when Mercury moves into Direct motion?” We have 3 weeks to really re-visit our dreams, goals and intentions and make sure that they are aligned with what we really want and what we are capable of achieving at this time
Now as we know Mercury Retrograde can be a tricky time with communications, travel plans and technology going a bit haywire and causing a bit of stress and chaos along the way. This is because Mercury represents communication and he likes to get his point across by showing us what we don’t want to happen, and also what can happen when we are continually switched “on” and not giving ourselves the time and energy we need to go within, pause and re-visit the path we are walking.
Sagittarian energy is the energy of the truth seeker and so when Mercury goes Retrograde in this sign of the zodiac it is all about going after our personal or inner truth. This transit will be a fantastic time to see how much you know and how much knowledge you have to share about what is important to you or where you are an expert. During this Retrograde period Mercury will be encouraging us all to check our facts, to make sure that we double or even triple check our sources of information, and to dive deeply into any and all knowledge that we seek. So, if you are planning a presentation, putting together some research, or simply looking for more meaning and understanding in all that you do, then you can make very good use of Mercury in Sagittarius to help with this.
And as Mercury is not just about the reading, learning and assimilation of knowledge, he is about giving us the opportunity to communicate what we know and learn during this time in a very articulate manner.
Sagittarian energy loves to be the expert and it makes sure that it gathers all the resources and knowledge it needs to be able to be that expert. This is not the energy that likes to dabble a bit here and there, rather it’s about full investigation and deeply diving into what you wish to know more about, and absorbing all of it. During this Retrograde period your ability to focus, learn and understand your chosen topic will be highlighted and you will also feel the motivation to keep going.
Now, one of the other qualities of Sagittarius that can come up for review and re-assessment is the need for this energy to control people and situations. Sagittarian energy hates to be put in a box, told what to do and controlled in any way, BUT it can be incredibly controlling itself. So, during this Retrograde period it would also be a powerful time to go within yourself and see where you find it hard to let go; where you always have to be in charge; where you perhaps boss others around, and/or where you like to control others. Nobody likes to be told what to do and so this is a good time for you to question yourself about where you feel the need to control things, people and/or circumstances, and whether you need to keep doing so.
Sagittarian energy is also a very adventurous and outgoing energy and so this could also be a brilliant time for you to seek out a brand-new holiday destination, or a new skill or activity that you are drawn too and to basically look to see how and where you can expand yourself and your interests so as to bring more into your life in every way.
Do avoid signing any major documents, or making any serious commitments to another person or company. It is also advisable that you DO NOT make any travel bookings under this influence as more often than not you will find that closer to the time either the dates won’t work for you any more, or something else that you had counted on will not be there for you. It is also a good idea to NOT make any major investments under this influence as such things can turn out, once Mercury turns Direct, to be not what you really needed at all, or faulty in some way, or just a bad purchase.
Rather, use Mercury Retrograde to go deep within and explore new knowledge, talents and information. See how clever and articulate you can be. Find out exactly what you want and how you can achieve that, and observe yourself and any control issues you may have that you could simply let go of from now on.
