Mercury transited Cancer for an epic 10+ weeks during which time he moved into Retrograde and then Direct again before transiting into Leo for a very short time indeed.  In fact Mercury only spent around 2 weeks in Leo due to his lengthy stay in Cancer and if the Sun and Jupiter had not already been sitting in Leo, we may not have noticed this transit at all.

So, Mercury will now fly through Virgo between 26 August and 10 September 2026. 

Mercury is the planet of communication – he represents how we think, how we process information and how we deliver our thoughts and speak.  Mercury also rules travel and this is why when he is in Retrograde motion it is often NOT a good time to travel or commit to anything major in our lives, rather we go within.

Virgo is the sign of the zodiac most connected to order and perfection.  Being an Earth sign it is very practical, grounded and hard-working.  In traditional Astrology, Mercury also rules Virgo.

Mercury in Virgo – get your ducks in a row

So, when we have Mercury transiting the sign of Virgo, we tend to feel a lot more drawn too and confident in anything that is proven, tried and true.  Our communications tend to become a lot more about what is factual and logical rather than fantastical or creative.  Therefore Mercury in Virgo is an excellent time to get those proverbial ducks in a row and to express or explain how things work on a practical level.  Our minds are sharp, analytical and ready to pay attention to detail.

Therefore, when Mercury is in Virgo it is not hard for you to apply yourself diligently to things that require a lot of focus and attention.  Your mind is more than happy to do the hard yards and can get its head around complicated and tricky topics so as you can not only understand these but you are able to communicate them to others with ease.

If you have been needing to get something very practical and/or even very boring and tedious done, Mercury in Virgo is the time to do it.  So, if you have anything you have been procrastinating over or putting off, you should find the motivation and determination to get it done during this transit.

The ongoing challenge with Virgo energy is its need for perfection.  This attribute of Virgo can be either extremely motivating and positive or extremely demotivating and negative – just depending on how much you judge yourself.

So, with Mercury in Virgo you may feel that unless you have everything “perfectly” aligned and you know how to “perfectly” present or say something then you can’t go ahead with it confidently or successfully.  Or, if you are a writer or producing a written document you may tend to over-edit at this time, as you just can’t see how good/perfect your document already is.  My advice is, that is you do have something you want to say, present or put out there in some way, and you are doubting its viability or perfection, that you ask someone you trust to go over it for you.  If you do it yourself you may well “over-edit” what you are working on and not see the perfection you have already created due to your own self-judgement. 

We can all use this transit to be more intentional and to pay more attention to detail as it will very  much help us to make sure we have all the information we need and in the right order.  And we must always remember to remind ourselves that the only perfection there is in life is in doing our best – you can’t do any more than that, and that is ALWAYS good enough.

Mercury in Virgo will give you a sharper more accurate mind and way of thinking so the chances are you will have no problem coming up with goods – whatever they may be – and that you won’t miss any important detail or overlook any aspect either.  So be kind to yourself and reaffirm to yourself that you have got this – and that you are perfect just as you are.  Blessings xox
