On 29 September Mars moves out of Cancer and into Leo representing a big shift in energy for us all. This transit is the start of a whole new 2 year journey for Mars and he wants to start it off as he means to continue; with confidence, surety, joy and optimism.
Mars is the planet of drive, action, passion and motivation and he loves nothing more than to make things happen. In some ways Mars represents our male energy and our ability to take charge and be in the driver’s seat for whatever we are pushing forward with at any time.
Leo is probably the most extroverted and outgoing sign of the zodiac. It is full of optimism, creativity, confidence and being a fire sign, is of course also the energy of leadership.
So, when we put these 2 together, we find ourselves under the influence of energies that demand dynamic actions and achievements.
Mars in Leo amplifies our need to be seen
Mars in Leo amplifies our need to be seen, to be heard and to take action. After his transit through quiet and emotionally driven Cancer, Mars is more than ready to move out of the inner world of feelings and intuition and into the world of making things happen and getting things done.
As Mars is the “action” planet of the zodiac, when he meets the confident and creative expression of Leo sparks fly and things start to happen. Mars can take any Leo dream or aspiration and turn it into something bigger, brighter and louder in every way. It pushes through any perceived barriers and any self-imposed road blocks and simply makes things happen. And it gives you the unlimited confidence to believe that you can make your dreams come true.
We have around 8 weeks to use the energy of Mars to propel us forward to achieve our dreams and goals at this time and to put in place a sustainable system or foundation that will allow us to continue to do so for the next 2 years. While Mars is in Leo, we will all find it a lot easier to speak up, to take charge, and to express our creativity in a bold and open manner. This is a time for everyone to be seen and heard, but of course with this need to take centre stage and make it all about you and what you are heralding or representing, there will also need to be the grounded awareness of working together for the highest good of all concerned.
Keep the ego in check
You see just as Mars will naturally influence all the positive traits of Leo; he will also bring out the shadow of Leo too. The shadow of Leo is the fear of not being recognised, of being humiliated, and/or of being ignored and NOT being the someone you want to be, particularly in the eyes of others. This will encourage you to fight harder for what you want and to work harder to achieve your goals but you may need to be careful that you keep your focus on what you wish to achieve for the good of ALL, rather than what you wish to achieve simply for your own ego or social acknowledgement.
Jupiter is also currently in his 12 month transit through Leo which will finish in July 2027. Jupiter in Leo encourages HUGE expansion and personal growth, and for the next 8 weeks with Mars here too, it is the most powerful time in 2026 for each and every one of us to stand up, speak up or step up in some way that allows us to further our dreams and goals.
Embrace these qualities that the transit of Mars in Leo brings and use this to get things happening in your life – especially those things that bring you joy and hope for the future. Step into your leadership abilities, whether that means stepping up in the work place or in your social life – now is the time for you to be seen for who you truly are and to not be afraid to show the world your authenticity and leadership abilities. But just keep that ego in check – self-amplification and making it all about you is NOT the best use of this energy.
