Today we step out of the fun and adventure of Sagittarius Season and into the more sensible, grounded and practical energy of Capricorn.
Capricorn Season is a time of year when we can take life a bit more seriously than we usually does. Maybe it’s the transition into a whole new calendar year that makes us feel like we need to make plans, get serious and be constructive in our thinking that causes this? Or maybe it’s that end of year feeling of “what did I accomplish this year?”, or, “there goes another year where I didn’t achieve my goals”. Whatever the case may be, there is always a time and a space for us in life to get serious and get organised and this is it.
During this next solar month, we will be experiencing a New Moon in Capricorn on 30 December 2024 at the same time as the planet of healing, Chiron, moves into Direct motion in Aries.
The New Moon in Capricorn will be our second New Moon in one calendar month which is not a common occurrence at all. Two New Moons in one month can be seen as very auspicious – two opportunities for new beginnings, two opportunities to set our intentions and two opportunities to clear our space for something new to come in. A New Moon in Capricorn can indicate a new way forward for a plan, program or foundation to be established that will create a concrete platform for us to work from. Capricorn energy loves to be organised and to have a plan in place to adhere to, focus on and due to the best of our abilities. So, the New Moon on 30 December preludes a whole new calendar year for us and is therefore a very good time for us to put out there what we wish to achieve not only over the next month, but over the whole of 2025. We can use this energy to really focus on creating a solid foundation to create and work from. BUT what is important here is that foundation. This is not about coming up with some scheme that involves very little input or hard work from you, its about using all of your abilities to create something that you can rely on to support you as you move forward. So, if there is something you would like to get off the ground in 2025, then this New Moon is your chance to put that out there and to do so with the knowledge and acceptance that this is NOT going to happen if YOU don’t do the hard yards that are necessary. The more serious and disciplined you can be about your future dreams and goals the more likely they are to come into existence – but it must start first with your commitment and focus and then you must back it up with the tenacity, hard work and diligence that is required.
At the same time as we have a New Moon in Capricorn, Chiron moves Direct in Arian energy. Chiron is a slow-moving planet taking around 7 years to move through a sign of the zodiac and so when he moves out of Retrograde and into Direct motion, it is a time to act on all that you have processed and made sense of during the last 5 months.
Chiron in Aries carries the wound of feeling like you are not good enough, that you cannot stand on your own two feet and/or that you cannot lead others or be the one in charge. And so, it is these feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt and self-belief that we have been grappling with over the last approximately 5 years. Now next year we have two of the most powerful planets in our cosmos moving into Aries energy to join Chiron here and the world is slowly but surely moving out of the Age of Illusion and into the Age of Reality.
We are all being challenged in many ways and in particular by Chiron, at this time, to do our inner work and to realise that you and only you get to make the call as to whether you are good enough or not – nobody else gets to decide this for you. And, we are also learning of the very strong connection between our sense of self-belief and self-worth and our ability to manifest, earn and attract to us what we desire.
For the first time in 17 years, we are moving into a New Year with Pluto NOT in Capricorn – instead he has moved on to revolutionary Aquarius where he will remain for the next 20 years. So, although we do have the Capricorn New Moon encouraging us to make good plans and choices for 2025, we also have this wonderful freedom loving, liberating and revolutionary energy of Aquarius encouraging us to think outside the box, to re-look and re-invent ourselves and the way we do things. And we can combine these two energies brilliantly by using our imaginations to find new solutions to old problems and then using our grounded and practical energy to figure out how we can bring these new solutions to life.
We are also in the midst of a very long transit by Mars through both Leo and Cancer. Mars usually takes around 6-8 weeks to move through a sign of the zodiac but he will transit in and out of Leo and Cancer until June 2025.
While Mars is in the Leo part of this transit, he will be opposing Pluto in Aquarius and this could be a time where your buttons get severely pushed by others. What is important to understand is that more often than not there are only 2 reasons why you react strongly to something; the first is because you can be a bit like what you are reacting too yourself, and so you are being shown a mirror of what you need to look at or alter within yourself. And the second reason is if it is something that is very emotionally important to you or you are invested in, in some way. So, be very aware of what pushes your buttons or gets up your nose, and especially so if its another person, and dig a bit deeper into yourself to see where your reaction is coming from. There will be something there that you need to look at, some perspective or belief that you hold that is being challenged and so you have to ask yourself, why am I reacting this way? Mars only moves into Retrograde motion once every 26 months unlike a lot of the outer planets who Regroade every year and so give us a lot more regular opportunities to go within and examine our inner motivations etc. And because Mars is all about taking action, being passionate, getting things done and being motivated when he is retrograde, we still feel that pull to act, but it is not the right time. It is your reactions here that you are being asked to learn from, rather than act upon. So, be an observer of yourself and your feelings, motivations and what you want to act or react too, and be honest with yourself to find your answers.
